I heard that a book went from zero to hero in a matter of moments on Amazon’s book sales list. This past Sunday, “Cookoo’s Calling” enjoyed its first time atop the prestigious Amazon sales perch after the Author has been found to be none other than acclaimed Harry Potter creator, J.K. Rowling.

After spending it’s first 2 1/2 months of publication under the pseudonym “Robert Galbraith”, Rowling disclosed herself as the book’s true author and sales skyrocketed. Of course they would. Rowling is a world-renowned author phenom with 400 million book sales to her name.  She’s a powerful story teller with a track record of proof.

What a difference a “Name” makes.

God once said to His people through the prophet Isaiah:
But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

That was their distinction.  They bore His Name.  And they weren’t never to take that lightly.

In the New Testament, we bear the Name of Jesus (Col. 3:17).

Paul writes this incredible prayer for the people in Thessolonica:
To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11–12

We bear the NAME of JESUS.  We glorify HIS NAME through the resolve and power He gives. And that’s not all… we are glorified in HIM by Grace!

Perhaps you’re feeling a bit sluggish on Monday morning.  Or maybe you’re back from vacation today wishing you weren’t.  Do not forget the NAME you bear.  You’re chosen.  You’re precious (1 Peter 2:9).  You’re holy and dearly loved (Col. 3:12).  Pray for His resolve and His power to do what He wants you to do today.

You never know the difference a day can make when you realize you bear the name of a POWERFUL Creator and Savior.
